Volkswagen engines in the 90
The 1990s saw the other Volkswagen in a state of transition. For nearly fifty years, the Volkswagen engine was cooled by the air cooling method that uses a forced air flow directed to a number of fins on the heads and cylinders of the engine, causing the transfer of heat from the engine to the air, thus reducing the temperature. Despite these Volkswagen engines were lighter and less complex cooling systems of air were considered ineffective and led a period of engine life much shorter.
The water cooled Volkswagen engine, which came into use in Volkswagen from 1980 to the end use a coolant that circulates around the cylinders and heads, and then transfers heat to the outside air through a radiator independent and effective. These motors Volkswagen water cooled also much quieter and has resulted in the life of engines, but the maintenance costs in the short term were slightly increased.
Engine water-cooled Volkswagen has gained popularity in the air cooling from 1970 and finally put in air-cooled engines VW production completely in the early 2000s. In the 1990s the transition was in full swing and with the decreasing popularity of the model then continues to dominate air cooled Volkswagen vehicles began to leave with many new types of cooling water, gasoline or diesel engines from Volkswagen. Three are talking about the EA111, EA113's, and the VR6.
The EA111 has been one of the first water-cooled engines VW. He was released in mid 1970 and production continued to this day. The EA111 is an engine camshaft that comes in a variety of sizes to travel, but limited to 3 or 4 cylinders. The head design of these cylinders is a cross-flow design, and auxiliary direct drive units, which makes one of EA111 refinement, Volkswagen engines over time. This was one of the leading Volkswagen engines in new vehicles launched during the decade of 1990, including models like the Volkswagen Polo (Mark II and III, from 1981 to 2002) and some versions of the Volkswagen Golf (Mk 2 and 3, from 1983 to 1999). Some previous models have been discontinued EA111 engine, but some are still produced today, appears in the current models, such as the Volkswagen Up! Fox and Polo Mk5.
Another widely used Volkswagen engines in the 1990s was the EA113, a family of internal combustion engines EA827 updated and published in 1993. This engine has been given by direct injection of fuel, which is one of the cleanest, environmentally safe options. The EA113 also held a variety of sizes of travel and the number of cylinders and was available in several Volkswagen Jetta, Golf and New Beetle (1997).
One of the most powerful engines from Volkswagen in the early 1990s was the VR6, which is still produced today in various updates and evolved. It was introduced in late 1980 and used during the 1990s in several passenger vehicles such as Volkswagen Passat Corrado and Golf Mk3. In 1997, the Volkswagen Group has created a VR5 of the engine by removing one of the cylinders for better fuel economy with a similar power. The VR6 has remained popular in its various updates, including in 1999 when it was updated to include a model with 12 valves with new camshafts, the team improved emissions and a higher compression ratio than the original model. High performance remains a popular option today.
The 1990 also included some setbacks for Volkswagen including Volkswagen different engines have been discontinued. Among them, the Volkswagen wasserboxer the engine horizontally opposed a "boxer", cooled, and comes in different sizes 4 cylinders. It was produced for 10 years, which is used in 4 trucks Volkswagen dark different, and left in 1992, due to inherent design flaws, is generally not considered a loss for the industry.

What type of battery do they put in the Volkswagen Beetle?
I keep researching for the project I'm working on where there's a section about how often to replace it and what the cost is... I can't find the answer!
First you need to find out whether you car is 6 or 12volts. 1966 and earlier cars came stock with 6 volts, but many have been changed to 12 over the years. Assuming you're running a 12 volt car, and smaller sized battery should work fine. Go to the local auto store and look up the prices, but keep in mind batteries are expensive.
