Do I have to pull up all the old plastic under the bark chips around my house?
I am going to redo the bark chips bordering my house because the plastic underneath is all ripped and weeds coming through. Can I put new plastic right over the old and then cover it back up with new bark chips?
No need for plastic or weed fabric under bark or wood mulch.
A two-inch layer of mulch will prevent the sunlight needed for germination from reaching weed seeds in the soil; same thing that plastic or fabric does. It's a n unnecessary step.
