why does the lamborghini murcielago have the wings on the back that expand?
on the back behind the door windows there are 2 wing like things that expand when your going a certain speed and while they expand the rear view mirrors also bend inward why does this happen. I don't own one im just curious about that.
my freind told me they keep the car on the ground is that true?
actually, the things that pop out near the engine, those arent wings. those ONLY come out when the engine gets too hot, all other times they are tucked away...
in general, spoilers (wings) create downforce, it makes the air "push" the car down when traveling at high speeds, this helps tremendously with stability... if you are interested, go on youtube and search for Koenigsegg CCX on Top Gear. this is a beast of a car, 0-60 in 3.5secs and top speed of 250mph. this is probably the best example of the power of downforce.
the car didnt come with a wing and during filming, while they were testing the car out, it crashed, so the producers of the show decided to put one on, the result? greatly improving the handling... check the video out and compare the lap without the spoiler and the lap with the spoiler.
but like i said before. on the Lamborghini Murcielago, the vents ONLY open when the engine gets hot, i should know, i owned one...
