Toys - Do you have to be educational?
Well, this opinion may not be the most popular. But please do not crucify me. I am a good father. I have my kids all the toys my wife found to help children "development." You know, educational toys. The guy has command of twenty miles on the road to the little shop in a shopping center west of nowhere to find, or some obscure catalog or Web site based Canada.
And believe me, I'm glad my kids have things like mini-computers to teach spelling and math, science game project of crystal growth, memory, puzzles and CD ROM computer repair blocks. But I wonder sometimes when I see these toys scattered on the floor room, neglected or abandoned, while Katie and Mitch are sticking little balls of dough in your ears, perhaps the children should have toys fun and nothing else?
After all, when I was growing up we had all this stuff. We had little red wagons and toy guns cowboy. We had Lincoln Logs, Matchbox cars, building block and imagination. I remember one summer when I was 6 years old when my only toy was a stick again my father helped me to become a fishing rod. And that kept me busy seven days a week!
I'll say. I'd rather see my children playing with a toy they like, that inspires to run and play and explore the world that some "educational" toys sit and play with a few hours until they get tired of it and never play again.
Heck, I even prefer Hunting each other around the yard with toy guns that are sitting inside with some pseudo-intellectuals or a puzzle game that is supposed to make me feel better compared to the cost fifty dollars!
You can not open a newspaper or turn on a news program on TV without someone said that today's children are obese and inactive. And I see it all the time. Friends of my children come to play and I can not help but noted that many of them are quite plump. They come from a good family, not the kind where parents are food and Twinkies before plopping television for hours at a time. But many of these children come over and play with our "educational" computer games mathematics and sitting on your ass!
That's what I want to see. I want people to put aside the idea that the toy should be clearly "Educational" to be valid. I would like people to consider other factors such as toys our children play and move actively or if they become addicted to television soon. I want people to think about whether their children really have a toy, or if you feel touched.
Keeping all these stupid ideas about what is good for our children and every child and enjoy the former.

Toys For Studying And Toys For Enjoyable
Okay, so this opinion might not be the most popular. However please, don't crucify me. I'm a great dad. I got my youngsters all of the toys my wife found to assist the children' "development." You know, instructional toys. The kind you have to drive twenty miles out of your solution to tiny retailer in a strip mall in West Nowhere to seek out, or order from some obscure catalog or website based mostly in Canada.
And consider me, I am glad my children have issues like mini computer systems that train spelling and math, crystal-growing science challenge kits, memory games, puzzle cubes and problem-fixing computer CD-ROMs. However I generally surprise, once I see those toys strewn all around the front room ground, deserted and uncared for while Katie and little Mitch are sticking balls of Silly Putty of their ears, perhaps youngsters should have some toys only for enjoyable and nothing else?
In spite of everything, after I was a kid we did not have all this stuff. We had little crimson wagons and toy cowboy pistols. We had Lincoln Logs, Matchbox vehicles, constructing blocks and our imaginations. I can keep in mind a summer once I was 6 when my only new toy was a stick my dad helped me turn into a fishing pole. And that saved me busy seven days a week!
I am going to tell you this much. I might slightly see my youngsters play with a toy that they take pleasure in, that conjures up them to run around and have enjoyable and discover the world than some "academic" toy that they will sit around taking part in with for a couple of hours until they tire of it and never contact it again.
Heck, I might even somewhat see them chase one another around the back yard with toy guns than sit inside with some pseudo-egghead puzzle or game that's supposed to make me feel higher about spending fifty bucks!
You may't open a newspaper or activate a TV news program without someone saying that at present's youngsters are obese and inactive. And I see it all of the time. My children' associates come over to play and I can't help however discover that a whole lot of them are pretty chubby. And they come from good families, not the type the place the dad and mom are feeding them Twinkies and plopping them in front of the TV for hours at a time. However a number of these youngsters are coming over and enjoying with our "instructional" computer math games, and just sitting on their butts!
This is what I'd wish to see. I'd like individuals to let go of this idea that a toy has to be clearly "educational" for it to be worthwhile. I'd like individuals to think about other components, like if the toy will get our youngsters shifting around and enjoying actively, or if it would flip them into little couch potatoes. I'd like folks to consider whether their kids will really benefit from the toy, or whether or not it can sit untouched.
Let's put away all these foolish ideas about what's proper for our children and simply them be children and have fun the old school way.
