What is the best type of interior paint to use to paint over dark colors?
My daughters room is a medium purple color and has been for 9 years. It's time to repaint. She wants 2 walls a medium blue color and the other 2 white. What type of paint should we get to cover the purple the best (especially the white parts). I dont want to have to do coat after coat. Thanks!
First, patch any holes with joint compound or spackle, then sand them smooth. Next, apply a coat of a quality primer, such as Benjamin Moore Fresh Start or Zinsser 1-2-3. Next, apply your finish paint. One coat should cover, but 2 would be better. Again, use a quality paint, such as Benjamin Moore Regal Wall Satin. Stay away from the primer/paint combos. Primer and paint do 2 completely different things, and the combos do neither well. Hope this helps.
