What is the best shape for a hand-made airplane wing?
We have to build a plane that can fly only by the trust of your hand, and i have built a model with flat, rectangular wings; and no lift happened.
I've heard that if the back of the wing curves up, that it can fly bettter, and if the wing is slightly angeled downward. Are there any other things that can help a glider fly? How thick should i make the body, and dose the nose need to be pointed or straight.
I've spent 9+ hours re-building a model, and i can't seem to get anything right! It needs to fly 45 ft to get a passing grade, so any help would be amazing! Thank you 
I presume you are using balsa wood to make your wing. The simplest solution would be to lightly wet the wood from one side and curve it a bit at about 30% from the leading edge. Once it dries, it would have attained the shape of an aerofoil, however rudimentary. The curved surface should go up when you mount the wing and I am sure your aircraft will fly the 45 feet. To improve upon things, lay out one piece of 1/16 inch balsa flat on the table. Cut out some ribs with the bottom flat and the top curved. Lay out and glue a spar of balsa 1/4 x 1/4 inch about Midway across your balsa sheet running from tip to tip. Notch your ribs to fit over this spar and glue them evenly spaced. Once the lower section + ribs have dried, glue a 1/16 inch sheet over the top. Mark a center line and once this dries you have a perfect wing for your glider.
The body should be strong enough to mount the wings and your tail section. Shape of nose may be just rounded off to look good.
