How did migrations and nomads threaten classic empires and civilizations?
The Chinese were always threatened by steppe barbarians e.g. the Xiongnu, the Mongols, the Jurchen. That was why they built the Great Wall. Successive waves of barbarians eventually conquered and became sinicized e.g. the Sui, Tang, Jin, Manchu.
The Turkic peoples travelled west and conquered kingdoms. The Seljuk turks conquered anatolia.
The Germanic tribes conquered the western roman empire. They founded western europe.
